It explores the concept of authority in the digital age, focusing in particular on the actions of so-called digital dissidents. Starting from the difference between hacking and cybercrime, the book explains the concepts of hacktivism, information warfare between states, a new form of politics (such as open data movements, radical transparency, crowdsourcing and “Twitter revolutions”) and the hacking of political systems and state technologies. The Centre “Law of the Information Society” (ISLC) of the Department “Cesare Beccaria” of the University of Milan is a multidisciplinary research center created in 2017 within the Faculty of Law “Cesare Beccaria” dedicated to the study of the so-called “Law of Digital Transformation” and the legal, technological, political and social aspects of the information society. His research focuses on computer ethics, computer crime, digital investigations, the use of social media in politics, digital death, hate speech, surveillance and leakage, digital dissent and human rights, cyber law, computer justice, hacking, legal technology and digital transformation law.
